Dr. Daniel Miramontez
Vice President, IRPE Professional Development (2025-2027)
As an institutional research, planning, and effectiveness (IRPE) professional with 17 years of experience in the field, Dr. Daniel Miramontez has served on The RP Group Board since 2020. Currently, he serves as an Executive Board member as the Vice President of IRPE Professional Development. In this role, he tri-chairs the IRPE Steering Committee and is a member of the Executive Committee. His past service on the Board has included co-chairing the Research Advisory Committee (RAC), tri-chairing the Summer-to-Summer-Institute, and co-chairing the provisional Planning Taskforce.
Dr. Miramontez’s main desire is to get at the core of what it means to be an IRPE professional in today’s environment. Past efforts included co-creating resources for institutional researchers in sustaining the field on solid research ground; co-leading efforts in raising/growing the profile of planning within the field by making planning a frontline commodity; and reimagining institutional effectiveness that showcases the true essence of what it means to move higher education forward (through IRPE professional development).
Dr. Miramontez is currently the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness at San Diego Miramar College. He also serves as the Accreditation Liaison Officer, a role through which he led the college through two successful visits. Prior to this assignment, he was a Research and Planning Analyst for the San Diego Community College District. He earned a PhD in social/personality psychology from the University of California, Riverside, and earned a master’s in general-experimental psychology and bachelor’s in psychology from California State University, Northridge.
