Dr. Joyce Lui
Regional Representative (2025-2028)
Dr. Joyce Lui is Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness & Educational Services at San José-Evergreen Community College District. Prior to her current role, she served as the Dean of Research, Planning & Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation Liaison Officer at San José City College where she oversaw the strategic planning efforts, research, and governance. She has publications in Race Ethnicity and Education and Community College Journal of Research and Practice. She is a founding member of the Journal of Critical Thought and Praxis and is a board member of the Community College Journal of Research and Practice. Dr. Lui has presented at the Council for the Study of Community Colleges, the American Educational Research Association, and The RP Group. Prior to her interest in research, Dr. Lui worked in student affairs. She has experience in student activities, service learning, and new student orientation.
Dr. Lui was born in Hong Kong and spent her formative years in San Francisco. She received her PhD in Education with an emphasis in social justice and a graduate certificate in applied research methods from Iowa State University. She earned her MA in postsecondary educational leadership-student affairs from San Diego State University. She received her baccalaureate in economics and sociology from the University of California, San Diego.
